Be Like Caleb
I’ve been reviewing a blog post I was trying to pull together. My message was clear in my head, yet something was lost in translation as I read through it again. Katy had printed it and laid it out so beautifully like she does for Meg and me. I told Katy I’d “sleep on it” and get back to her today.
This morning, I woke up and came across this visual and text. It basically says what I was trying to communicate. Here it is:
We have ALL been through extremely trying times in our lives, and perhaps none more painful or impactful than circumstances regarding family, those we carry in the depths of our souls. Being a parent and grandparent is simply life-altering in the most empowering and humbling of ways. This great gift also takes us to the brink of what we think we can manage. I’m not telling those of you with children anything you don’t already know. I just needed to say it. We have heirs. We have descendants we have birthed into this place called earth and into the human family. And this thought is awe- inspiring and overwhelming at the same time.
Some time ago, the Holy Spirit burned the passage in Numbers 14 into my soul. It has become not just a passage studied or read over and over, but a calling. A challenge. A commission. The “giants” are real. They are in our field of vision. They threaten. They taunt. And their goal is to instill fear in us in any and every way possible. They want us paralyzed into inaction. But, WE. WE change the game. WE change the narrative. WE, like Moses, even change God’s mind sometimes. WE, like Caleb, have a different spirit. WE will face these giants in front of us who threaten not just us, but all those who would come after us. We will face and not fear them. The LORD is with us. We will go into the land of promise and our descendants shall possess it. And in our partnering with the God of all creation, the earth will be filled with His glory. I know this. It burns like fire within my spirit. “Your kingdom come ON EARTH, just as it is in heaven.”
