Flowers and Music and Us

Flowers and Music and Us

I came across a video the other day in which a device of some sort had been attached to a patch of daffodils. It was able to transmit into sound the music the flowers played. When a young woman reached in to smell them, the sound changed into an excited shrill.( The video is attached below.) There are some rose bushes beside our building, and they are happy and in bloom right now. I noticed a particular rosebud at the end of its stem. It was beside another bush that was not currently blooming. The tiny rose seemed to be reaching out to share its beauty with its neighbor. I thanked the little rose for its kindness and gave it a kiss.

I shared the experience with Allison. She has a farm in Baton Rouge and also tends to other gardens in the area. This morning she sent a message that she was stopping to smell some sweet peas at one of the gardens. I paused to wonder what music they might be playing and immediately a song came to mind. I found the song and listened again. ( The song is also attached below.) And as I did, a mental picture formed. I saw Allison and Jesus. He had pulled her aside to skip and dance in a field of what I suppose were sweet peas. The vision was precious... the day was lovely, like our day today in Baton Rouge. Lots of smiles and twirls and both were entirely carefree. My words don't do it justice.... just simple childlike joy. I wish I could paint the picture.

There is an instrumental I play often and when I do, I feel Jesus asking me to pause and rest on His chest and dance. The song is not one that is light hearted but is tender and lovely. Hearing the song for Allison today showed me that Jesus is present for us in all our moods and personal circumstances.

I think I won't worry too much about editing this post. I just want to get it out there for whoever may need it right now. The spring flowers are in bloom. They are playing their songs and they have a song or two for you. As the cliche goes, "Stop and smell the roses." Listen to His voice inside you. He might be asking you to take a break and share a dance. The flowers are playing your song.
